Remembering Coy...
Being as I'm one of the slackers in reading and contributing to this blog -- it's probably right to fire off a fond remembrance of Coy on the anniversary of her birthday.
My mother was always a lot more diligent in those matters than I -- without fail, 9 a.m. every August 1 was when we phoned her to wish her a happy birthday. So it's odd being without either of them when this day rolls around -- I feel remiss for not making that call.
Much love to everyone -- and let's please try to all get together again soon!

back in 2002

I had this funny memory today when I was e-mailing Joses (which is always a serious trip).
I was e-mailing him because I was excited that N.E.R.D. is performing at the Kanye concert in Sacramento tomorrow night. Jen and her gym friends got us tickets and I was sort-of excited about seeing Kanye, but REALLY excited when I found Pharrell was opening. Sweet. Joses turned me on to N.E.R.D. Anyway, I'm a poser, and we'll be exposed tomorrow night. But Joses doesn't care. And he's killer about it.
ANYWAY...the point of e-mailing Joses was about Pharrell, but then I remembered back in 2002 when Missy and I did this half-ironman race and J came down to Oceanside to cheer us on. My race number was 187.
Background: 187 = police code for homicide.
So I come out of the swim and Joses is there screaming at the top of his lungs: "HOMICIDE!" And the other tri-geeks were freaking out about him, I'm sure.
But it was funny because even when I couldn't see him, I could hear this punk scream across the course: "HOMICIDE!"
That was a funny memory.
And, no, the picture above is not from that race. And do not any of you get on me about not running anymore; I'm over it.
Peace. Who's doing the next triathlon? I want to be support crew.
And I hope, hope, hope someone gets lucky and lands #187 again.
So classic.
And get this song:
You can't be me
I'm a Rock Star
I'm rhyming on the top of a cop car
I'm a rebel and my .44 pops far

Hi, three
Hello family! It's been too long since we've seen most of you, but I'm sure you know we think about you all a lot. I just started reading this thing and I think it could work...at least better than the dinandcoyfam yahoo group. I mean, who still has yahoo? So 1997. I thought I would give an update on the Salt Lake contingent...
Bryan just finished his second treatment and is starting to recover - still at the hospital, however. Serious bummer. Pretty unclear on when they'll let him out. Every day is so different on how he feels, but he is definitely giving it hell. It's been great for him to have Major back in the mix. I'm sure you all get Brad's updates - although I don't think he's sent one out in a little while. Skyler is doing really well...kid works hard and does everything the right way - seriously different from his older brother. Brad and Stacy are always busy being the social butterflies that they are. Missy - thanks so much for always thinking of Linds. We know that you do, but it's always great to hear it! Congratulations on the future addition to the clan...
Thanks again to Jen and Ryan for having us out over Skyler's birthday. Still trying to work out a summer trip for a Bonds-less Giants game, but the finances must align - as always. For a 24-year-old, I'm pretty computer illiterate but I will try to post on here and get some pics up if I can figure that out! Look forward to talking to you all soon...

hi, too
It has been too long. Why have I not posted on here? I'm going to do better. Because, we're family. And I don't think those of you in Utah have even met my daughter Avery. That makes me sad.
Around here:
1. We bought a house and now we have a guest room. This means that if we end up doing a reunion in California ever, we have a place for people to stay too.
2. We are having another baby. A baby girl, we just found out. We're happy!
3. We like the show Eli Stone.
4. Devin is training for three triathlons this summer.
5. I will be pregnant all summer.
6. A small taste of Avery: she's shy and sweet and just turned two on April 6th. That means we have two big tasks ahead of us: a big girl bed and potty training. Yikes.
6. We just saw Dan In Real Life. Have you seen it? We're behind in movies, but we loved that one.
Let's keep this blog going. We read it. We love the updates. I never comment, but will. I'm glad Major is back and with you guys Bryan, Ann and W. And Brad Stac Tony and Skyler, do you know that I keep the angel coin in my wallet and everytime I look at it, I think of you guys + Linds? I love it.
Miss you all.
Missy

hi
Family, does anyone read this blog? Seems like a lot has happened: all the birthdays, and also Bry's diagnosis and treatment. I spoke with Bry last week. You sounded good, man! I'm proud of you. I was impressed with the courage and strength in your voice. That's a Morris for you, I guess.
Everything else, by comparison, is totally unimportant, but a quick update:
1) there are no good movies in the theater, but if you can rent the 1984 documentary "the Life and Times of Harvey Milk," I highlight recommend it.
2) Jen and I like the show "Lost"
3) I'm working on a bunch of things, but the most controversial is the incumbent mayor of sacramento's re-election campaign against that poser good-for-nothing NBA loser Kevin Johnson, who I hope nobody votes for. He is the epitome of celebrity candidate, who only speaks when scripted and won't debate. LAME.
4) Lilly's a comedy routine in perpetual motion. Come to Sacramento if you can.
5) Jen's an exercise dilitante, which is working out for her.
6) I am not
7) all's well in norcal.
Love you guys. Funny how we get older and the machine sucks us into its cogs and wheels. Tough to all get together in person, but hopefully soon.
Ry
